What to do if your laptop gets flooded?
Liquid spills, along with overheating, are one of the main reasons for laptop failure and subsequent repairs. The danger lurks not only at the desktop, but also in cafes, airplanes, and other places.
You can read about how to quickly revive your accidentally flooded laptop, how to reduce the costs of possible repairs, and how to increase the chances of further device recovery in this article.

The sequence of actions when pouring liquid into a laptop is quite simple and obvious, but you need to act very quickly according to the following points:
- Disconnect the laptop from charging and as quickly as possible. Don't reach under the table to find an outlet or turn off the switch at the entrance to your house – just unplug the power cord from your laptop.
- Turn off the battery. If it is hidden inside, press the power button. That's right, no "Start - Shut Down". Hold the power button firmly with your finger and wait a few seconds until the screen goes dark. Data in open programs will not be saved, but then you can save the life of your laptop. It is also necessary to turn off all external peripherals: flash drives, mice and so on.
- Open laptop, turn it with the keyboard down and let the liquid drain away. Be careful not to let it drip onto the nut!
- Dry laptop. If it is flooded with clean water, just wipe the keyboard with a napkin or towel. In the case of coffee or tea, alcohol is akin to waiting for death, and every hour leaves less and less chance of a successful repair without a complete replacement of the laptop motherboard. Dry it for at least a day. During this time, do not try to connect the battery or turn on the laptop. And the last, most important step – take your injured friend to our service center, where they will help you.
Maybe a repair is not necessary, but checking the laptop for any moisture and any signs of corrosion is necessary.
